In a world where language barriers often prevail, family stories have become a universal means for local individuals to connect with their shared humanity and preserve their distinct identities. Ancestry Talks successfully inspired individuals from ethnically diverse backgrounds, many of whom arrived in Britain with only their culture and memories, to explore, celebrate, and raise awareness of their family narratives.
Our project adopted an intergenerational approach, providing local residents with opportunities to delve into their ancestry. We helped people, even those who had never considered it before, discover the positive and enjoyable aspects of family storytelling. Together, we journeyed back into local heritage, uncovered family stories, and initiated family trees to be cherished by future generations.
Looking back on our achievements, we are proud to have extended our Family Surgery program to local communities within Brent ensuring that the spirit of preserving and celebrating our diverse heritages continues to thrive.
